The 190 meter long, 30185 dwt bulk carrier Juno ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near the Thousand Islands Bridge near Alexandria Bay, New York. The Juno was proceeding with a cargo of sugar when it ran hard aground after suffering a steering failure. The Juno sustained damage to one of the forward ballast tanks resulting in water ingress. Traffic was halted on the St. Lawrence River around the incident. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

BOGDAN

The 142 meter long, 13898 dwt bulk freighter Bogdan allided with a wall near the Iroquois Lock on the St. Lawrence River.  The Bogdan was attempting to slide the wall into the lock when it struck the wall and went crossways blocking the channel with her anchors.  Traffic was halted as the lock crew attempted to maneauver the freighter and clear the channel.  The Bogdan was secured the following day and tied-up awaiting inspection.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The Bogdan was en route to Cork, Ireland.

The 222 meter long, 34752 dwt bulk freighter Algoma Discovery allided with the ship arrestor in a lock at Beauharnois, Quebec on the St. Lawrence River.  The Algoma Discovery was downbound when it hit the arrestor collapsing the frame holding the cables.   Traffic was halted as a heavy crane will be needed to replace the arrestor.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Reports state there were strong winds at the time of the allision.
