The 135 meter long self-propelled barge Factofour allided on the Scheldt-Rhine Canal with the bridge at Rilland-Bath, Netherlands.  The vessel and passing under the Bathse bridge when it and the cargo containers on deck struck the underside of the bridge.   Reports state the vessel hit cables and wires ran underneath the bridge.   Some of the deck cargo of containers were damaged whiles others shifted.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  The Factofour proceeded to moor nearby until the cargo can be secured.    The Factofour was en route to Duisburg from Antwerp.

Collision on the Scheldt-Rhine Canal

Two inland tankers collided on the Scheldt-Rhine Canal between Ossendrecht and Bath.  One tanker, 110 meter long  with 1,000 tons of gas oil, struck head-on with another tanker, 96 meters long with 2,400 tons of fuel oil.   Both tankers suffered significant damage, but there were no leaks on either vessel.   The master of  one tanker suffered a head wound and was taken to hospital.   The Water Police is conducting an investigation into the incident.
