On October 7, the 85 meter long, 3577 dwt cargo vessel Gotland (IMO: 9411824) ran aground in the Kylerhea near the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The Gotland was en route to Belfast from Wolgast when it nearly ran ashore.  The Coastguard was alerted and RNLI lifeboats from Kyle and Portree responded. The lifeboats found the Gotland hard aground but in stable condition. A tug was requested and was on standby until the cargo vessel was refloated on the next high tide. The vessels proceeded to Glenelg Bay where the Gotland anchored.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. The cause of the grounding was not reported.

On August 21, the 30 meter long cargo/work vessel Leslie Anne (MMSI: 232002848) ran aground in Firth of Clyde in Scotland.  The Leslie Anne was at anchor in Millport Bay off  island of Great Cumbrae when the anchor line parted in strong winds. The vessel was pushed by the wind and was nearly washed ashore. Authorities were alerted and the RNLI lifeboat from Troon and the UK Coastguard rescue team from Cumbrae responded to the scene. No reports of injuries.

Reports state conditions of increased winds may have delayed any salvage of the Leslie Anne. The Leslie Anne had been working on flood prevention construction the island prior to the incident.

The 40 meter long fishing vessel Ronja Skye became disabled off Eilean Musdile Lighthouse near Oban, Scotland. The Ronja Skye had a fire break out in the vessel’s engine room. The crew was able to extinguish the blaze, but the fire disabled the main engine. Adrift, the Ronja Skye requested assistance. The RNLI lifeboat from Oban and the ro-ro ferry Isle of Mull responded. The lifeboat arrived on scene and attached a towline to the Ronja Skye. The ferry stood by while the lifeboat towed the Ronja Skye to a nearby anchorage where the fishing vessel could conduct repairs. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
