The 20 meter long fishing vessel  Howling Gale became disabled in Broadford Bay, Scotland.  The Howling Gale had suffered engine failure and went adrift.  The vessel sent out a distress call with the RNLI lifeboat from Kyle of Lochalsh responding.  The RNLI lifeboat arrived on scene just as the vessel was just about to wash ashore. The lifeboat crew were able to pass a towline and pull the Howling Gale to safety.  The vessels proceeded to  Broadford later the same day.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

HEBRIDEAN_ISLES

The 85 meter long, 671 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Hebridean Isles allided with the pier in Stornoway, Scotland.  The Hebridean Isles was attempting to berth when a heavy squall blew the vessel into the pier.  No reports of injuries, but the ferry sustained some damage.  No pollution was released.

Clipper Ranger

The 122 meter long ro-ro cargo freighter Clipper Ranger allided with a pier at Stornoway, Outer Hebrides, Scotland.   The vessel’s hull was significantly damaged requiring emergency repairs.  No reports of injuries to the 19 crew on board.  The Clipper Ranger was removed from service and proceeded to dry dock for repairs.  Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
