The 141 meter long self-propelled barge Dyna allided with a bridge on the Danube at Deggendorf, Germany. The Dyna had suffered engine failure and went adrift as it passed under the bridge. The strong currents caused the barge to strike the bridge and drift until it rested against a pylon. The crew was able to restart the engine, but was unable to free itself. A towing vessel was requested to pull the barge free. No reports of injuries. The bridge sustained damage, but did not suffered any structural damage. The Dyna was en route from Deggendorf to Regensburg.

The 110 meter long self-propelled container barge Alsvin ran aground under the Vlake Bridge in Hansweert, Netherlands. The Alsvin was loaded with 111 containers when it veered off course and stranded under the bridge.  A few hours later the vessel was refloated with the aid of the rising tide and three tugs.  No damage to the bridge and vessel. The master of the vessel was injured in the incident and taken to hospital. Reports state alcohol may have been factor.

The 105 meter long self-propelled barge Friedrich Götz allided with a bridge over the Neckar River near Untertürkheim, Germany. The barge was headed to Stuttgart from Mannheim with a cargo of containers when the Friedrich Götz smashed against the underside of the bridge. The barge’s wheelhouse was smashed injuring the master of the vessel. He was later taken to hospital for treatment. The Friedrich Götz was maneuvered to a nearby container terminal in Heidelberg.  Reports state that damage is between 30,000 and 40,000 Euros.
