On July 13, 2014, the 80 meter long self-propelled barge Corteo G allided with a railway bridge near Nijmegen, Netherlands on the Maas-Waal canal.  The Corteo G suffered hull damage and water ingress.  The crew requested assistance with the local fire bridge responding.  The fire bridgade was able to bring the flooding under control with pumps.  A boom was placed around the vessel as an oil sheen was spotted around the vessel.  Reports state the pollution came from the vessel’s engine room as it had suffered water ingress.  No reports of injuries.  Reports state there was concern the vessel stability as the Corteo G was fully laden with steel coils.

The 110 meter long self-propelled barge La Mattanza collided with the 36 meter long towboat Orava on the Rhine River near Orsoy, Germany.  The Orava was departing from Orsoy with a barge loaded with cargo of coal when it struck the nearby La Mattanza.  Both vessels suffered some hull damage and water ingress.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Authorities  state the two vessels were allowed to continue as the on-board pumps had the water ingress under control.

The 172 meter long self-propelled barge  Maranta I and the barge Maranta II went aground on the Rhine near Cologne, Germany.  The vessel attempted to refloat itself, the two vessels seperated.  The Maranta II drifted and collided with the 103 meter long passenger ship River Cloud 2.  The River Cloud 2 suffered minor scrapes and bent radar.  Traffic halted on the river until a dredger arrived on scene and lightered some cargo. The Maranta was en route from Bonn with a cargo of soy.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.
