The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Valet & Ott allided with the Neckar Bridge at Hirschhorn, Germany.  The Valet & Ott was en route to Strasbourg from Eberbach with 440 tons of scrap when it struck some scaffolding while passing under the bridge.   The barge’s wheelhouse was torn off disabling the vessel.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The barge was moored at the Hirschhorn Lock  while the water police conducted an investigation.   Traffic was stopped on the Neckar River while debris from the wheelhouse could be located.   Reports state the damage was estimated around 100000 €.   The Valet & Ott was taken under tow by a tug bound for Mannheim.

The 75 meter long self-propelled barge Maria-S suffered a fire while at Rotterdam, Netherlands.  The fire started in the vessel’s engine room while it was docked at the quay.  The crew quickly responded getting the fire under control.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Asana

The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Asana ran aground on the Waal River near Nijmegen, Netherlands.   The Asana had its bow strike bottom while passing under the Waal Bridge.   No injuries, damage or pollution released.  Another self-propelled barge Amara came to the assistance of the Asana.  The Amara was able to pull the Asana free.   Both vessels were able to proceed on their voyages.
