The 614 dwt trawler Number one Insung sank between New Zealand and Antarctica. Nearby vessels were able to rescue 20 crewmen of the 42 onboard. No reports to the cause of the sinking. Weather has been ruled out with light winds and 1 meter waves.

The 7148 dwt motor vessel North Spirit foundered near Cape Ortegal, Spain in the Bay of Biscay. The vessel had a cargo of lumber from Oskarhamn, Sweden bound for Bejaia, Algeria. The vessel suffered a heel in a heavy tide and presumably the cargo shifted. This developed into a dangerous list to port. The North Spirit sent of a distress call and Spain sent out helicopters who were able to rescue all 17 crew onboard. No reports of causalities or injuries.

Alessandro DP collides with Karam 1

The 17101 dwt tanker Alessandro DP collided with motor vessel Karam 1 near Cape Emine on the Bulgaria coast in the Black Sea. A half-hour after the collision the Karam 1 foundered resulting with 5 crewmen missing. Reports states there was no injuries of the 20 crewmen on the Alessandro DP. The Karam 1 was carrying scrap metal from to Instanbul with 10 crew onboard. The Alessandro DP heading to Varna, Bulgaria with just ballast. Reports state that vessels and helicopters were searching for the missing men.
