Collision off Singapore

MARE_THRACIUM

The 124 meter long, 12124 dwt tanker Zoey collided with the 195 meter long, 34705 dwt container ship Hammonia Thracium in the Singapore Strait off Sebarok Island, Singapore.  The Zoey struck into the Hammonia Thracium puncturing her hull and damaging one of her bunker tanks.  No reports of injuries.  Some 80 metric tons of fuel oil was released into the water.  Authorities have dispatched teams to support clean-up efforts.   An investigation into the cause of the collision has been launched.  Reports state the Hammonia Thracium was crossing the traffic lanes prior to the incident.

Beks Halil

BEKS_HALIL

The 192 meter long, 57700 dwt freighter Beks Halil collided with a smaller freighter in the Strait of Singapore.   The smaller vessel had veered into the path of the larger Beks Halil.  The smaller vessels suffered damage to its port hull, but no reports of injuries on either vessel.   The Singapore Coast Guard responded to the scene and has launched an investigation into the incident.

Al Rawdah Aground

Al Rawdah Aground

The 307 meter long, 79,030 dwt boxship Al Rawdah went aground on the Batu Berhanti reef in the Singapore Straits near the island of Sanbu.   The Al Rawdah had left Port Kleng heading for China loaded with a cargo of  containers when in struck the reef at low tide.    The boxship rests with a list to port and an LOF has been signed with a salvager.  The chief engineer died during the incident due to heart failure, but due to illness and not the accident.    No injuries reported with the other 26 crewmen on board.   Reports state the master of the vessel admitted that he had not given proper attention to the vessels direction and was concern with the surrounding vessel traffic.
