On the evening of May 1, the 19.5 meter long, 167 gt fishing vessel Silver Bird S 449 (MMSI: 219034290) became disabled in the Skagerrak 30 nautical miles west of Hirtshals, Denmark. The trawler had its fishing gear wrapped around its propeller and gone adrift. The Silver Bird S 449 requested assistance with the lifeboat from Skagen Rescue Station took the fishing boat under tow.  The vessels proceeded to Hirtshals where the trawler safely moored at a quay in the harbor.  Reports state divers have been requested to cut the fishing gear free. The Silver Bird S 449 is a new vessel and only has been in service since March 2025. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On the night of January 2, the 154 meter long, 7226 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Glyvursnes caught fire while berthed at Hirshals, Denmark. The Glyvursnes had arrived from Iceland when a fire broke out in the engine room. The local fire brigade was called out and was able to contain the blaze an hour later. One crew member perished in the fire while another was badly injured from burns. Reports state there was heavy smoke and some crew suffered smoke inhalation.

Danish Maritime Authority is inspecting the vessel for the extent of damage caused by the fire.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
