On December 9, the 18 meter long fishing vessel Siempre Urbegi sank off Malpica, Spain. The Siempre Urbegi had earlier struck a rock resulting in hull damage and water ingress. The 10 crew were unable to control the flooding and requested assistance before they were forced to abandon ship. The nearby fishing vessel Anzol responded and rescued the 10 crew from the life raft. Four crew sustained injuries and were later taken to hospital. The Spanish Coastguard arrived on scene and found the Siempre Urbegi in 16 meters of water. Divers were able to partially refloat the Siempre Urbegi later the same day to allow the vessel to be towed to Malpica.

The 107 meter long, 6090 dwt chemical tanker FT Foce allided with the moored 99 meter long, 4512 dwt LPG tanker Happy Eagle at Ceuta, Spain. The FT Foce was departing from Ceuta when it suffered engine failure while doing a maneuver. The FT Foce struck the starboard hull of the Happy Eagle sustaining bow damage. The Happy Eagle suffered minor damage with multiple dents and damage to its railings. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 23 meter long fishing vessel Flormar became disabled near Torrevieja, Spain. The fishing vessel requested assistance with a search and rescue boat responding. The Flormar was taken under tow and proceeded to Carboneras. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
