The 126 meter long, 7712 dwt freighter Anna went aground in Ferrol Bay near San Cristovo, Spain.  The Anna was entering the bay when it suffered engine failure and drifted aground.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The Anna was refloated a few hours later by aid of two tugs during the next high tide.  The Anna was en route to Ferrol from Esbjerg, Denmark. CELTIC_CARRIER

The 88 meter long, 3020 dwt freighter Celtic Carrier caught fire off Cape Trafalgar, Cadiz, Spain.  The Celtic Carrier had departed from Gibraltar bound for Belfast with a cargo of cement and a crew of eight when a fire broke out in the vessel’s superstructure.   The fire started in a cabin and spread to several other cabins.   The crew sent out distress call with the Spanish Navy ship Malaspina and the vessel Salvamar Atria responding.   The Malaspina dispatched a fire fighting team to the Celtic Carrier who help fight the fire while the Salvamar Atria assisted.   The combined efforts were able to extinguished the blaze.   No reports of injuires, but the fire disabled the vessel.  The Celtic Carrier was taken under tow by a tug to Cadiz for repairs.

Inmaculada Segunda

The 21 meter long, 94 gt fishing vessel Inmaculada Segunda went aground leaving port at Santoña, Spain.  The Inmaculada Segunda was leaving port when it made a hard turn to avoid striking paddlers.  The fishing vessel went hard aground onto a sandbar.   The vessel remained aground until high tide when the vessel listed over to starboard and capsized.   No reports or injuries to the nine crew.   Divers were dispatched the next day which sealed the vessel while an oil boom was placed to contain any pollution released.  The vessel was righted and dewatered.
