On August 22, the 24 meter long fishing vessel Catalina Godó (MMSI: 224000390) became disabled in the Gulf of Roses 20 nautical miles southeast of Roses, Spain.  The Catalina Godó had suffered engine problems and requested assistance.  The Salvamento Maritimó dispatched a vessel to standby near the fishing vessel while the crew made repairs. Reports stated the crew of 4 on the Catalina Godó were able to make repairs and proceeded under its own power back to Roses.  No reports of injuires, damage or pollution released.

On August 19, the 13 meter long, 11.8 GT wooden fishing vessel Mañón Un (CFR: ESP000021719) sank at the entrance of the Cedeira estuary near Cedeira, Spain. The 4 crew members on board sent out a distress call that the vessel was sinking after it sprung a leak.  Spanish authorities responded by dispatching the 7.5 meter long search and rescue vessel LS Percebiño and requested nearby fishing vessels to assist.  The 4 crew would be rescued by the LS Percebiño and transported back to port.  One crew member was taken to hospital for undisclosed injuries.

The 18 meter long fishing vessel Bedía (MMSI: 224055790) arrived in the area a short time later and confirmed the Mañón Un had foundered. Authorities state the fishing vessel is sunk at a depth of 36 meters of water. The LS Percebiño had been delivered to Cedeira Red Cross just one day before the incident.

On the evening of August 18, the 188 meter long, 7823 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Ciudad de Sóller (IMO: 9137997) caught fire in the Mediterranean Sea while docked at Valencia, Spain. The fire was started by an auxiliary engine located in the engine room. The local fire brigade was called out and was able to quickly extinguish the blaze.  There were no reports of injuries.  Reports stated there were no crew present in the engine room and there were no passengers on board the vessel at the time of the incident. Authorities have stated that the Ciudad de Sóller had sustained damage from the fire, but it was limited to the area around the auxiliary engine.  The Ciudad de Sóller was taken out of service for inspections, but is expected to return to service.
