The 142 meter long, 4124 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Mutiara Persada III became disabled in the Sunda Strait.  The Mutiara Persada III was en route to Lampung from Surabaya when it suffered engine failure.  The ferry went adrift and all 81 passengers were evacuated safely. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 129 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry KM Mutiara Persada 1 ran aground in the Sunda Strait off Bakauheni, Indonesia. The ferry had run onto a reef a short time after leaving the port of Bakauheni was headed to Merak. No reports of injuries.  All the passengers were kept on board the night until conditions improved the following morning when they were safely evacuated. Reports state the vessel had not suffered water ingress.

The 98 meter long, 1654 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Menggala collided with the 95 meter long LPG Tanker Gas Melawi in the Sunda Strait off Cilegon, Indonesia.  The tanker struck the ferry damaging the bow ramp and port railing. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Gas Melawi sustained only slight damage. No further details reported.
