Sunshine on the beach at Umm Al Quwain
The diesel transport vessel Sunshine went aground on the shore at Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates. The vessel was transporting 160 tons of fuel when it suffered engine failure before going ashore. No reports of injuries. Some pollution was reported as some of the Sunshine’s fuel was released into the water. A tug attempted to pull the Sunshine free, but the tug became stuck in the nearby shallow water. Authorities have ordered the owners to remove the vessel in three days. Reports state the authorities and coast guard was on the scene monitoring the scene. Nearby residents were told to close their air vents to prevent the fumes from entering their home.
