The 56 meter long, 347 dwt fishing vessel Shans 101 capsized and sank in the Sea of Japan near Svetlaya, Russia.  When the Shans 101 failed to make contact with the owner, the authorities were contacted and a search and rescue mission was launched.  Aircraft along with several fishing boats joined in the search for the missing Shans 101.  The fishing vessel Talan reported spotting the overturn hull of the Shans 101.  A short time later, the 130 meter long freighter Anatoly Torchinov found a life raft with 15 survivors and six dead.  Nine crewmen were still missing.   The survivors stated the vessel was struck by a large wave flipping the Shans 101 over.
