Sterno

Sterno

The 75 meter long, 1372 dwt freighter Sterno ran aground near Lödöse, Sweden.  The Sterno lost steering after an engine failur and struck a sandbar.  A fuel tank was punctured, but the tank was empty and no pollution was released.  No reports of injuries.  The Sterno was later refloated and proceeded to Lödöse before continuing to Gothenburg for repairs.  The  Sterno was enroute to Uddevalla from Skive with a cargo of grain before the grounding.

JHC Miljoe

JHC Miljoe

The 30 meter long, 170 gt pollution control vessel JHC Miljoe went aground near island of Aspö,  Karlskrona, Sweden.  The vessel was pulled free later the same day by a tug.   The vessel returned to Kalskrona where it will be inspected.  The JHC Miljoe was en route to Simrishamn from Karlskrona.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being release.

The 90 meter long, 4145 dwt freighter Nemuna went aground near Fårö, Sweden.  The Nemuna suffered damage to its bow with a ballast tank holed.   The Coast Guard responded finding the vessel in stable condition and firmly aground.   Booms were deployed around the vessel to prevent any of the 81 tons of diesel and 7.5 tons of lubricating oil being released.  Divers inspected the hull and the Coast Guard approved the Nemuna to be refloated.  No reports of injuries.
