On February 21, the tug Tiger sank during the early morning hours at its berth in Sölvesborg, Sweden.  The unmanned tug was discovered to have sunk to the bottom under 5 meters of water leaving only the top of the mast on the surface.  Authorities were alerted and dispatched vessels to the scene.  Booms were placed around the Tiger to contain the diesel fuel spill.  Divers were sent down and closed the vents to prevent further pollution. The Swedish Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident. No reports of injuries.

The 41 meter long fishing vessel Nessie ran aground off Norrsundet, Sweden. The vessel was proceeding on autopilot when it veered off course and ran aground.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The crew requested assistance with two fishing vessels arriving on scene. The 240 tons of fish on the Nessie was transferred over to the other fishing vessel. The Swedish Coastguard dispatched  a vessel to monitor the situation.

The 24 meter long fishing vessel Scano – VK 190 ran aground on a shoal in Fårö Sound, Sweden. The trawler had departed from Västervik when it struck the shoal. The Swedish Coast Guard dispatched a patrol boat to the scene.  The patrol boat found there was no damage to the Scano – VK 190. The fishing vessel was able to be refloated again. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
