Eiltank 41

Eiltank 41

The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge went aground on the Rhine near Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth, Germany.  The vessel was unable to free itself and requested assistance.   The water police were on scene shortly afterwards and an inspection showed no damage.   Due to the falling tide, the Eiltank 41 had to be lightered by pumping 400 of the 1700 tons of gas oil on board.  After the transfer of the 400 tons to another tanker, the Eiltank 41 refloated and proceeded on to Colonia.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
