Kolin 5

The 84 meter long, 4286 dwt tanker Kolin 5 ran aground in the Dardanelles off Kepez Limani, Turkey. The tanker was being used as a bunkering tanker at the port of Çanakkale when it suffered a power blackout after its main engine failed. The Kolin 5 drifted into shallow water onto a mudbank. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The crew was able to restart the engine and a salvage tug was able to refloat the tanker a short time later. The Kolin 5 was towed back to Kepez where it was inspected for damages.

The 146 meter long, 19887 dwt tanker Chem Venus ran aground on the Piscataqua River near Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The Chem Venus had lost controlled when it struck three small sailboats before hitting bottom. No reports of injuries. The tanker sustained a 3 meter long hole in the bow and resulting water ingress. The sailboats were damaged, but remain afloat. No reports of pollution released. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.

The 182 meter long tanker Champion Ebony ran aground near Nunivak, Alaska. The tanker was headed with 5400 tons of oil and fuel products when it touch bottom. The crew was able to refloat the Champion Ebony and proceed into deeper water. No reports of injuries to the 24 crew, damage or pollution released.
