Collision off Jurong Island

The 145 meter long, 19992 dwt tanker Lime Galaxy collided with the 275 meter long, 51280 dwt  container ship Fei He off Jurong Island, Singapore.  The Lime Galaxy struck the boxship resulting with a fuel tank rupture on the Fei He.  No reports of injuries.  Authorities were able to contain the pollution.   Both vessels were able to proceed under their own power to a nearby anchorage.

The 90 meter long, 3743 dwt chemical tanker Liselotte Essberger became disabled after a fire in the Kiel Canal near Brunsbuettel, Germany.  A fire started in the engine room and was quickly extinguished by the crew, but not before it damage the main engine.  The  Liselotte Essberger was taken under tow to Kiel.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The  Liselotte Essberger was en route to Porvoo from Terneuzen with a cargo of benzol.

The 96 meter long, 3884 dwt asphalt tanker Bitu Gulf sank in the South China Sea off Phang Rang, Vietnam.  The Bitu Gulf was en route to Quy Nhon from Singapore when it suffered uncontrolled water ingress.  The  crew sent out a mayday which was received by the container ship Ever Summit.  The Boxship changed course and located the Bitu Gulf’s crew in a lifeboat.  All 16 crewmen were safely rescued.  Reports state the cause of the flooding was not yet known.
