The 15 meter long tugboat Louise capsized on the Neches River near Port Arthur, Texas. The four crew on board the Louise were rescued by a passing vessel. No reports of injuries.  Authorities dispatched a response team to the scene and found a small sheen around the upturn hull. The Louise was reported to have up to 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel along with 100 gallons of other oil and fluids on board.  Traffic was stopped around the area on the Intracoastal waterway.  The cause of the capsizing was not reported.

Two barges collided in the Intracoastal Waterway off Galveston, Texas. Two tugboats were pushing barges off the Bolivar Peninsula when one of the tugboats suffered a power blackout.  The barge being pushed by the disabled tug struck a second barge.  A barge was loaded with 3500 tonnes of naphtha caught fire.  Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze four  hours later. No injuries reported. The Coast Guard has dispatched a team to the scene to check for any pollution released or environmental impact.  An investigation into the incident has been launched.

The 187 meter long, 46807 dwt bulk carrier Jian Qiang ran aground in the Gulf of Mexico off Beaumont, Texas. The Jian Qiang was loaded with sulfur when it ran hard aground while outbound into the gulf.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Coast Guard and local authorities are monitoring the situation as plans to free the bulk carrier are being developed. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
