On November 19, the cargo vessel Antakya ran aground in the Dardanelles off Nara, Turkey.  The Antakya was headed to Yalova from Marmara Ereglisi with 2500 tons of cement when it suffered rudder failure. Unable to steer, the Antakya ran aground.  Two tugs were dispatched and the Antakya was pulled freed a short time later. The Antakya was towed to a nearby anchorage.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On October 24, the 88 meter long, 520 dwt high speed ro-ro passenger ferry Osman Gazi 1 allided with a pier near Mudanya, Turkey.  The Osman Gazi 1 was approaching Mudanya from Istanbul with 786 passengers and 178 vehicles when it suffered engine failure near the piers.  The ferry struck near its starboard aft section resulting in hull damage. No reports of injuries.  All passengers and vehicles were unloaded. Reports state the vessel was able to proceed under its own power to Istanbul for repairs.

The 177 meter long, 33476 dwt bulk carrier El Condor Pas ran aground on the Bosphorus near Istanbul, Turkey. The vessel was loaded with 29000 tons of iron ore had ignored authorities warnings when it made a navigation error by making an early turn and grounding into shallow water.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  A tug was dispatched and was able to refloat the vessel a few days later.
