Konosha

The 140 meter long, 6207 dwt freighter Konosha became disabled was proceeding through the Dardanelles.   The Konosha had suffered an engine failure and began to drift.   Authorities dispatched a tug to the scene.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Ashore at Samsun

Two vessels found themselves trapped in a severe storm at the Black Sea port of Samsun, Turkey.  The 140 meter long, 6628 dwt freighter Feruz was at anchor when the storm caused it’s anchors to drag.   The vessel went ashore against the breakwater and the hull was damaged.   The 16 crew on board were able to safely get ashore.  The 70 meter long, 1580 dwt coastal freighter Hay K also went ashore nearby during the storm.  No reports of injuries.  Reports state that waves reached up to 20 meters in height.

Sehit Mustafa Aydogd

Sehit Mustafa Aydogd

The 58 meter long passenger vessel Sehit Mustafa Aydogd allided with the Galata Bridge in Instanbul, Turkey.   The vessel was attempting to dock at the Karaköy pier when it suffered a mechanical breakdown.    The passenger vessel drifted until it struck the Galata Bridge.   Some passengers were thrown off their feet while others attempted to go overboard from the stern rail onto the bridge.   A tug reached the scene shortly afterwards and was able to attach a towline to the disabled Aydogd.   The vessel was pulled to the pier and berthed where passengers were landed.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
