The master of the Ioanna G tried to reject assistance until he could get an approval from the owner. However, the vessel was taken under tow to the Tuzla Shiprepair Yard. The Ioanna G had a cargo of 15,200 metric tons of sugar bound for Odessa.
The 3174 dwt freighter Dvina went aground near Karabiga, Turkey. The vessel had anchored off shore when rough weather struck. The Dvina dragged her anchor until the vessel finally washed ashore. The vessel sits on a sandy beach. No clear reports of damage, but there is a possible release of pollution from the fuel tanks. The crew of 11 were reported safe. The Dvina was waiting outside the port to load cargo before the incident. Salvage attempts have been hampered by the bad weather.
