The 130 meter long, 11,258 dwt tanker Ternvind collided with the 182 meter long, 6,559 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Stena Jutlandica off the island of Vinga near Gothenburg, Sweden. The tanker had departed from Gothenburg en route to Halmstad when it struck the portside of the Stena Jutlandica. The ferry sustained significant hull damage with a several meter long hole above the waterline.  Reports state the Stena Jutlandica did suffer water ingress, but was able to proceed to Gothenburg under her own power.  Many of the 536 passengers on board were awoken by the sound of the crash, but no reports of injuries.  Authorities dispatched vessels to monitor the situation and inspect the vessels.  No pollution was released.  The Ternvind was last reported anchored off Vinga with no injuries or pollution released.

Freighter Vinga collides with fishing vessel

The freighter Vinga collided with the fishing vessel N. A. Hansen on the Kattegat off the coast of Grenaa, Denmark. The N. A. Hansen sank quickly sending its father and son crew into the water. The two men were in one degree water for an hour before being rescued. Both men were later taken to hospital, but both died later from hypothermia. The Vinga had damage to its bow including a hole above the waterline. The Vinga arrived at Korsor, Denmark for inspection and repair work. Reports states authorities are conducting an inquiry into the incident.
