Brunsbuettel Bump

The 171 meter long, 20316 dwt container ship Emotion allided with the 130 meter long, 8185 dwt container ship Marnedijk in the Brunsbuettel lock.   The  Emotion was mooring in the lock when its foreship cable snapped allowing the Emotion to strike the moored Marnedijk.   There was slight damage on the Marnedijk and no damage on the Emotion.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The water police has conducted an investigation into the incident.  The Marnedijk was en route to Bremerhaven from Gdansk.

Tourboat Strikes Lock

The tour boat/launch Ruth allided with the lock wall at Ellerholzbrucke Lock in Hamburg, Germany.    The Ruth was proceeding into the lock when the motor’s throttle stuck sending the vessel full speed into the lock.   Twelve people were injured as they were thrown from their seats with most receiving bruises and abrasions.   Local EMS responded and the injured passengers were sent to hospital as a precaution.  A local fire boat arrived on scene and took the Ruth under tow to a nearby dock.   No reports of pollution being released.   The water police are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Evolution

Evolution

The 146 meter long, 13248 dwt container ship Evolution went aground in the Kiel Canal near Schact-Audorf, Germany.  The Evolution suffered engine failure and lost steering and veering into some pilings.  Two tugs were able to refloat the container ship a few hours later.  The Evolution proceeded to Kiel to be surveyed.  The water police conducted an investigation into the incident.   The Evolution was en route to St. Petersburg from Rotterdam.
