On August 21, the 85 meter long self-propelled barge Tokaj 2 allided with a bridge near Winzer, Germany. The Tokaj 2 was proceeding on the Danube when a strong current pushed the vessel against one of the bridge piers. The master of the Tokaj 2 reported the incident and berthed at a nearby quay. Both the Tokaj 2 and the bridge sustained some damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Authorities have detained the Tokaj 2 until it could be inspected.

The 90 meter long self-propelled barge Sveti Ilia ran aground on the Danube near Winzer, Germany. The Sveti Ilia was en route to Straubing from Hungary with 1000 tons of soybeans. When the Sveti stopped to allow other vessels to pass, the bow became stuck along the riverbank.  The vessel was able to free itself the following day.  No reports of injuries to the three crew on board, damage or pollution released. The Sveti Ilia proceeded to Deggendorf under its own power.

The 80 meter long self-propelled barge Getan went aground on the Danube River near Winzer, Germany.  The vessel was en route to Russe from Deggendorf when it grounded onto a gravel bar.  The master of the Getan had been blinded by the sun and steered the barge out of the fairway.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
