Sinotrans Xiamen

The 39 meter long fishing vessel Min Shu Yu 07878 sank after collision in the Taiwan Strait near Xiamen, China. The Min Shu Yu 07878 had been struck by the 145 meter long, 12550 dwt container ship Sinotrans Xiamen which was en route to Quanzhou from Shantou. The Min Shu Yu 07878 quickly sank. Reports state only three of the 11 crew on board were rescued. The 11 crew were still reported as missing as authorities proceeded with a search and rescue operation. After the collision, authorities directed the Sinotrans Xiamen to berth at Xiamen as part of an investigation into the incident.

The cargo vessel Jin Zhao 29 ran aground in the Taiwan Strait off Dadan Island near Xiamen, China. The Jin Zhao 29 sustained hull damage with the cargo hold 1 holed resulting in water ingress. The crew requested assistance with several rescue boats and tugs responding.  Reports state all 14 crew were safety evacuated and rescuers were able to keep the vessel afloat. The following day the Jin Zhao 29 was towed to Xiamen where it berthed.

The 200 meter long ro-ro car carrier Morning Capo collided with the 222 meter long container ship Stadt Rostock off Xiamen, China.  The Stadt Rostock sustained damage to its starboard section of the bow.  The Morning Capo’s hull was holed in the bow. No report of injuries or pollution released.  Both vessels proceeded to a nearby anchorage where authorities conduct an inspection and investigation.  The Morning Capo was en route to Singapore from Gunsan while the Stadt Rostock was headed to Shanghai from Xiamen.
