The 1000 foot freighter Indiana Harbor ran aground at the entrance to the Muskegon Channel which connects Lake Michigan with Muskegon Lake. The vessel was carrying coal to Muskegon, Michigan when it encountered shoals. The Indiana Harbor was able to be freed later the same day after unloading some cargo to a sister ship. The Reports state high winds caused sand to be push into the channel creating a sandbar.

The Russian tanker Krasnodar collied with the fishing trawler Cap Frehel in the English Channel. The collision occurred between Gernsey and Plimouth. Reports state the 115,605 dwt tanker was undamaged, but the trawler was damaged and 1 crew member was injured.

The general cargo motor vessel Dila S. had an explosion onboard off the coast of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. The 2286 dwt vessel is proceeding to Italian island of Pantelleria. Reports state several crew were injuried in the explosion.
