Carnival Splendor disabled by fire
The Carnival cruise ship Splendor after a fire in the engine room disabled all six diesel engines. The fire was extinguished, but it left the vessel with just auxilary power as the ship’s generators were disabled. Multiple tugboats are towing the Splendor back to San Diego, USA. The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Regan also provided aide by delivering food and supplies including Spam, crabmeat and Pop Tarts. No injuries reported of the 4,500 passengers or crew. Reports state an investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted.
