Intracostal Bridge Damged

The Intracostal bridge (28.7711, -95.6173) which is part of the Farm-To-Market Road 457 was damaged by a barge that broke free.   The tugboat had lost control of the barge and it veered into the swing bridge damaging the span.   Texas Department of Transportation was able to repair the bridge and open to traffic later the same day.   No reports of injuries.

Oriana Gets a Dent

Oriana Gets a Dent

The 261 meter long , 6260 dwt cruise ship Oriana allided with the quay at Kristiansand, Norway.  The Oriana was departing when the stern bumped the corner of the pier.   The cruise ship suffered some damage with a dent on the stern several meters wide.   The damage was limited and the Oriana was allowed to proceed on to England.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Volgo-Don 127 Damaged

Volgo-Don 127 Damaged

The  138.3 meter long, 5000 gt freighter Volgo-Don 127 broke one of the two propeller shafts while sailing on the Moscow-Volga Canal near the 492 kilometer mark.   The Volgo-Don 127 loaded with 5074 metric tons of gravel proceeded with one propeller to a safe anchorage to be surveyed.
