Explosion on the Vincent

Explosion on the Vincent

The 63 meter long freighter Vincent suffered an explosion and resulting fire and thick smoke in it’s engine room while off Ketel Bridge between Noordoostpolder and Flevoland, Netherlands.   The two crewmen contacted rescue authorities then sealed the engine room and closed all air vents.   The rescue boat Willemtje arrived and evacuated the crewmen off the Vincent.   Local firefighters were requested and arrived to find the fire already extinguished.   The crew’s quick action had suffocated the fire.    The motor vessel Cees took the Vincent under tow back to port.  The cause of the explosion was not reported.
