The trawler Ocean Tiger became disabled near Upernavik, Greenland.  The Ocean Tiger’s main engine went dead after the turbocharger had suffered damage.   The vessel’s fire alarms went off as large amount of smoke was released in the engine room.   The Ocean Tiger’s main power supply also failed leaving the vessel dead in the water.  Another fishing vessel, Markus was nearby and was able to take the Ocean Tiger under tow.  Some 40 hours later, the two vessels arrived at Sisimiut.   No reports of injuries.   Reports state the damage is between 1.5 and 2 million Danish Crowns.

The 43 meter long supply vessel White Whale sank off the coast Umm Al-Quwain, United Arab Emirates.   The vessel was overloaded with materials for other vessels and oil rigs in the area when it began to sink.  A nearby fisherman spotted the White Whale and contacted authorities.  Coast Guard and Police rescue craft reached the scene and rescued all nine crewmen on board.  No reports of injuries.  The vessel had been cited before for overloading and the crew were arrested.  The White Whale rests in 30 meters of water with some 450 tons of diesel on board.  Authorities have sent divers and are monitoring the wreck for any leakage.
