Frankenland

The 110 meter long tanker-barge Frankenland allided with a train bridge on the Main River near Hanau, Germany.   The vessel was heading downstream when it had not  lowered the wheelhouse enough to clear the bridge.  Reports state the water level was an additional 2.5 meters above normal reducing the clearance further.   The Frankenland became stuck with the wheelhouse crushed.  Traffic on the bridge was stopped for several hours so it could be inspected, but no significant damage was found.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.     The water police has stated this incident was due to human error.
