Arthur J Update

Salvage work has been completed for the 38 foot tug Madison.   The tug has been salvaged and removed from the scene.   Work continues with the salvage of the 110 foot long dredge Arthur J.   Salvage crews pumped the remaining fuel and oil from the dredge.   The crews proceeded to pump air into the tanks and plan to refloat the vessel soon after.

Grim Reaper

The fishing vessel Grim Reaper became disabled near Gloucester, Massachusetts.   The fishing vessel had suffered water ingress to the high waves and heavy seas.  The engine room became flooded causing the engine to fail.   The crew contacted the Coast Guard.   The Coast Guard dispatched the 40 foot lifeboat to the scene.  The lifeboat took the Grim Reaper under tow and returned to harbour.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

The 104 meter long, 2072 dwt freighter Alushta went aground on Onega Lake, Russia.   The Alushta lost steering and veered out of the navigation channel.   The freighter suffered hull damage, but no water ingress.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   Reports state that salvagers were on scene.   The Alushta was en route to Lyshovo from Perguba with a cargo of gravel.
