Fjordveien

The 86 meter long, 750 dwt ro-ro ferry Fjordveien allided with a fishing vessel at Skudeneshavn, Norway.   The ferry was on its scheduled run between Skudeneshavn, Kvitsøy and Mekjarvik when it struck the fishing vessel berthed at a quay in Skudeneshavn.   No reports of injuries or damage to the ferry.   The master of the Fjordveien accepted responsibility for the accident.   The Fjordveien was pulled from service due to an unreported technical problem.

Collision off Tanjung Punggai

Collision off Tanjung Punggai

The tugboat Sun Fat 3 was in collision with the 182 meter long, 45260 dwt freighter Infinite Hope in the Singapore Strait near Teluk Ramunia, Pengerang, Malaysia.  The Sun Fat 3 was proceeding to Lumut from Kuching, Sarawak with an empty barge when it struck the bulk freighter.  The tugboat was quickly swamped by water and later sank.   The Infinite Hope had only minimal damage.  The crew requested assistance from the Malaysian Maritime Authorities before abandoning ship.  All seven crewmen where later rescued.  No reports of injuries on either vessel.

Clipper Odyssey

The 104 meter long, 938 dwt passenger ship Clipper Odyssey allided with the jetty at Fort George, Derry, Northern Ireland.   The vessel was attempting to berth at the jetty when it struck.   The edge of the jetty suffered broken concrete, railings and electrical equipment.   No damage to the vessel.   None of the 200 passengers or crew on board the cruise ship were injured.  The master of the Clipper Odyssey accepted responsibility for the incident.  The authorities closed the jetty to the public while it undergoes repairs. The jetty had recently been refurbished.
