Guler

GULER

The 79 meter long, 2421 dwt freighter Guler went aground off the Island of Corfu, Greece.  The Guler was headed to Marghera, Italy from Thessaloniki with a cargo of ore when it grounded.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Guler suffered some hull damage and had water ingress.   The freighter was able to refloat itself by its own means and proceeded to anchor off Corfu awaiting inspection.

Jung Soon

Jung Soon

The freighter Jung Soon sank in the South China Sea off  the coast of Borneo near Tanjung Manis, Malaysia.  The vessel was en route to Kuching from Sibu with its cargo of timber when it’s hull suffered water ingress and sank.  One crew man was missing, but eleven others were able to swim to safety.   Local authorities launched a search and rescue mission for the missing crewman.   The incident is under investigation.

Dresden Express

Dresden Express

DRESDEN_EXPRESS

The 294 meter long, 67713 dwt container ship Dresden Express went aground on the Elbe near the Oste estuary.  The Dresden Express had departed from the container terminal in Hamburg when it had suffered rudder failure while passing another vessel.  The Dresden Express dropped anchor but became stuck in the low tide.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  Several tugs were able to refloat the Dresden Express on the following high tide.   After inspection and an investigation, the vessel was allowed to proceed on to its destination to Rotterdam.
