The 83 meter long, 1768 dwt freighter Rebecca Rousing became disabled off Öland, Sweden.  The Rebecca Rousing was en route to Gotland from Wolin when the vessel suffered a mechanical breakdown resulting in a power blackout.  The freighter went adrift in heavy seas and high winds and was in danger of being blown ashore.  The crew contacted the Swedish Coast Guard who dispatched a rescue vessel from Öland and took the Rebecca Rousing under tow. Both vessels proceeded to northern tip of Öland where it dropped anchor and sheltered from the wind and waves.  No reports of injuries to the five crew or pollution released.

The frigate INS Talwar collided with a fishing vessel near Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. The naval warship sliced into the unlit trawler during the night.   The INS Talwar was undamaged, but the fishing trawler quickly sank sending the 27 crew on board into the water.  All 27 crewmen were later rescued by the INS Talwar.  Four suffered injuries and received medical attention.  Reports state the fishing trawler had been operating without lights and was not visible in the dark.
