The 110 meter long, 6900 dwt freighter Pitztal allided with a lock in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Pitztal was entering the lock when it struck the lock gate.  Both the vessel and the lock gate suffered slight damage.  The Pitztal was allowed to continue to Kiel where it was inspected.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Pitztal was en route to St. Petersburg from Rotterdam.
