The 158 foot long schooner Clipper City ran aground in New York Harbor near Liberty Island. The Clipper City had departed from lower Manhattan with 121 passengers on a day cruise when the top-sailed schooner ran onto a shoal near the island.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The passengers were transferred off the vessel safely.  The Clipper City was taken under tow by a tug and returned to port on the following high tide. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 86 meter long cargo vessel Lizanne caught fire on the Miami River berthed in Miami, Florida.  The fire started in the fore section of the vessel with smoke billowing out.  Local firefighters were called and began to search the vessel for the source of the smoke. Firefighters took two hours and nearly 50 men to extinguish the blaze.  No reports of injuries.  Reports state the blaze was extremely intense with the heat causing boots to melt and water in the hoses to boil.

The fishing vessel Ocean Ranger ran aground near the harbor at Unalaska, Alaska. The Ocean Ranger had run up on a reef after the crew made a navigational error. The fishing vessel sustained hull damage and water ingress.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Ocean Ranger was able to refloat itself and proceeded to a nearby salvage yard.
