On August 19, the 11 meter long, 2129 gt lighter Pumi Ratn Nawa 2 sank in high seas on the Gulf of Siam near Si Chang, Chonburi, Thailand. The Pumi Ratn Nawa 2  was loaded with 1087 tons of clinker waiting to be transferred  to a bulk carrier bound for Bangladesh.  While moored near the anchored bulk carrier, the Pumi Ratn Nawa 2 sustained damage as winds and waves cause the vessel to impact with the bulk carrier.  The lighter developed a leak and sank a short time later.  Authorities marked the location where the vessel sank and is monitoring the area for pollution. No reports of injuries.
