On March 17, the 40 meter long fishing vessel Kvalstein became disabled off Finnmark, Norway.  The Kvalstein had suffered engine failure some 300 miles off the coast.  With waves reaching eight meters, the trawler sent out a request for assistance.  Authorities dispatched a patrol boat to the scene.  The following day the patrol boat after some difficulty was able to connect a towline to the Kvalstein and both vessels proceeded back to port. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

A barge collided with the Ghenh bridge over the Dong Nai River in Dong Nai, Vietnam. The barge was passing under the bridge when it struck the railway bridge causing the middle span to collapse into the river and capsized the barge. Reports states three persons on the bridge were later rescued from the water. Authorities continue to search the area for any other victims.

SORMOVSKIY 3063

The 119 meter long, 3721 dwt cargo vessel Sormovskiy 3063 ran aground on the Don River near Rostov-on-Don, Russia. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state the vessel will attempt to refloat itself on the next high tide.
