The 56 meter long ro-ropassenger ferry Shoyo Maru allided with the moored 235 meter long, 91,569 dwt bulk carrier Dyna Camellia near the port of Kure, Hiroshima, Japan. The ferry was headed to Matsuyama with 62 passengers when it had suffered a power blackout and lost control before striking the Dyna Camellia moored at a nearby quay. Three passengers were slightly injured, but no damage reported. Reports state the Shoyo Maru cancelled its voyage and returned to Kure.
The high-speed catamaran Menina da Praia LS-01 caught fire while moored at Guaruja, San Paolo, Brazil. The ferry was undergoing maintenance when the fire broke out in the vessel’s stern. The local fire brigade was able to quickly respond and extinguish the blaze an hour later, but the ferry sustained significant damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Menina da Praia LS-01 served transportting passengers between Santos and Vincente de Carvalho.
