The 79 meter long, 1613 dwt cargo vessel Andre Michel 1 became disabled on the Bosphorus near Garipçe, Turkey. The Andre Michel 1 was headed to Sfax, Tunisia from Kherson, Ukraine when it suffered engine failure just under the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. The crew was unable to restart the engine and requested assistance.  A tug was dispatched and took the Andre Michel 1 under tow. The vessels proceeded to an anchorage off Buyukdere. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 176 meter long, 31762 dwt bulk carrier Silverstar ran aground on the Kiel Canal near Kudensee, Germany. The Silverstar was headed east on the canal bound for Lisboa when it ran aground on the canal embankment. The bulk carrier was able to pull itself free a few minutes later and proceeded under its own power. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On May 31, the 113 meter long, 8870 dwt container ship Mary Arctica struck an iceberg off Nanortalik, Greenland. The Mary Arctica was headed to Aalborg when around 2 A.M. it struck the iceberg. The vessel sustained significant damage, but the details were limited. The Mary Arctica did not suffer water ingress, but changed course and proceeded to Qaqortoq to be surveyed. Afterwards, the vessel to expected to be able to proceed to Denmark where it will be taken out of service for 2 to 3 weeks to complete repairs. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Arina Arctica will replace the Mary Arctica to continue service between Denmark and Greenland.
