The 31 meter long supply vessel World Calima caught fire off a wind farm near Heligoland, Germany. The fire started in the vessel’s engine room and quickly disabled the vessel. The crew shut off the engine room and used the CO2 fire suppressant to extinguish the blaze. No reports of injuries to 5 crew on board.

Authorities were alerted to the disabled World Calima who dispatched a DGzRS lifeboat assisted by other Naval vessels.  The lifeboat towed the disabled World Calima to port. No reports of pollution released.

The 97 meter long cargo vessel Yu Tong 1 sank near Huilai, Guangdong, China. The Yu Tong 1 was headed to Jieyang from Maoming with 5000 tons of iron ore when it was hit by stormy weather. The Yu Tong 1 began to take on water by the heavy seas.  The vessel’s pumps were unable to control the flooding and the Yu Tong 1 developed a list.  Fearing the cargo vessel would capsize, the 14 crew alerted authorities and abandoned ship.

Two tugs along with 5 other vessels assisted in a search and rescue operation. Reports state all 14 crew were later rescued.

On November 9, the 45 foot long fishing vessel Anne Rowe ran aground between Brace Cove and Eastern Point Lighthouse, Massachusetts. The Anne Rowe had run up onto the rocky shoreline during the early morning hours leaving the lobster boat high and dry.

Authorities were alerted and the Coast Guard dispatched the 47-foot response boat along with other units to the scene. They found the crew in survival gear and aided them to shore. No reports of injuries.

Reports state the Anne Rowe was refloated and proceeded to a nearby shipyard for repairs. No reports of pollution released. The cause of the grounding was not disclosed.
