The 85 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Blackbear caught fire on the Nieuwe Waterweg in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Some insulation in the engine room caught fire resulting in dense smoke. The local fire brigade was alerted along with the port authority who dispatched vessels to the scene. Aided by the port authorities vessels, the fire was extinguished and the engine room was ventilated to clear out the smoke. One crew of the Blackbear was taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. The Blackbear was taken under tow to a quay at the port of Koningin Wilhelmina. No reports of damage to the cargo tanks loaded with bio diesel.

On March 3, the 225 meter long, 76525 dwt bulk carrier Aeoloian Grace ran aground at São Francisco do Sul, Brazil. The Aeoloian Grace was maneuvering just outside the port of Laje da Barata when it ran aground 500 meters from the port. Authorities were alerted and two tugs were dispatched to stabilize the bulk carrier. The grounding was most likely due to the low tide.  Divers have inspected the hull and a team is onsite to monitor pollution.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The fishing vessel Vågøy ran aground near Lepsøya in Ålesund, Norway.  The Vågøy sustained no damage or water ingress, but the trawler was unable to free itself. The Vågøy requested assistance and the NSSR sent out a lifeboat to the scene. The lifeboat along with the 54 meter long offshore supply vessel BB Lifter pulled the Vågøy free.  The Vågøy was taken under tow back to port. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
