On the morning of October 6, the 67 meter long, 376 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Okmeydani (IMO: 8604747) allided on the Bosphorus at Sirkeci, Turkey. The Okmeydani was proceeding on its normal route between Harem and Sirkeci when it suffered a steering malfunction while approaching the pier.  The ferry scraped against the stern of the berthed ferry Nilüfer Hatun (MMSI: 271043475) before ramming the pier in Sirkeci.  Both the pier and the Okmeydani sustained damage, but there were no reports of injuries.

Emergency personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene and assisted passengers safely ashore. Reports state the Okmeydani was later towed to a nearby berth.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. No reports of pollution released during the incident.
