The 25 meter long towboat Karibu O 01 allided with a gate on the Havel-Oder Canal near Eberswalde, Germany. The towboat was headed for Berlin with barges loaded with pig iron when it struck the gate.  The Karibu O 01 had its wheelhouse torn off and two men onboard sustained slight injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment. The local fire brigade arrived on scene and placed around the towboat. Hydraulic lines from the towboat had been severed and some pollution was around the vessel.  The water gate sustained significant damage and traffic was halted.  The water police detained the Karibu 0 01 until it completed an investigation into the incident.

Karen Margrethe

On February 28, the fishing vessel Karen Margrethe L423 allided with the Aggersund Bridge near Aalborg, Denmark. The Karen Margrethe had become trapped in an ice floe and pushed into the bridge. The fishing vessel suffered only minor damage including a broken mast.  No reports of injuries as all three crew had abandoned the fishing vessel before the allision.  Authorities dispatched a helicopter to the scene.  Reports state the Karen Margrethe would be recovered the next day.

Kristine Bonnevie

On February 17, the 56 meter long, 500 dwt research vessel Kristine Bonnevie became disabled off Orknøyane, Norway. The Kristine Bonnevie suffered engine failure and the crew was unable to make repairs. Unable to drop anchor, the Kristine Bonnevie went adrift. The crew requested assistance with a Norwegian Coastguard patrol boat and NSSR lifeboat responding. The patrol boat arrived and towed the Kristine Bonnevie as far as Sletta where the NSSR lifeboat took over the tow.  The lifeboat towed the Kristine Bonnevie to a shipyard in Bømlo.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
