The 35 meter long fishing vessel Kas Ken HG-77 became disabled off Gonvika, Norway. The Kas Ken HG-77 went adrift in 5 meter waves when its propeller became fouled by its own net.  The 4 man crew was pulling up the net when it jammed into the vessel’s propeller.  The crew requested assistance with the Coast Guard vessel and NSSR lifeboat responding. The rescue boats arrived and took the Kas Ken HG-77 under tow back to Gonvika.  There the net was cut free by divers. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Kiel Canal Collision

The 95 meter long, 4900 dwt cargo vessel Bremer Martha collided with the 158 meter long, 18425 dwt container ship Pollux on the Kiel Canal near Brieholz, Germany. The Bremer Martha had suffered a power blackout and drifted into the path of the Pollux. The Pollux had only slight minimal damage and was able to resume its voyage. The Bremer Martha came to rest on the northern bank of the canal. A tug was requested and freed the Bremer Martha and proceeded to tow the cargo vessel to Rendsburg. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

 

KM Mutiara Persada 1

The 129 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry KM Mutiara Persada 1 ran aground in the Sunda Strait off Bakauheni, Indonesia. The ferry had run onto a reef a short time after leaving the port of Bakauheni was headed to Merak. No reports of injuries.  All the passengers were kept on board the night until conditions improved the following morning when they were safely evacuated. Reports state the vessel had not suffered water ingress.
